Zambia
WHERE WE ARE
- Active in Lusaka, Livingstone, Choma and Chipembi, Zambia
- Zambia is home to almost 18 million diverse people whose music has long been a unifying voice in culture and a means to communicate values and responsibilities to the younger generation.
- This predominantly Christian country faces challenges of extreme poverty, high infant mortality and short life expectancy.
WHAT WE DO
MIWC was invited to partner with Music Ministry Zambia (MMZ) in 2017 by its founders Roger and Diane McMurrin. The organization, renamed in 2024 by local leadership as the African Mission in Music and Culture (AMMC), has since expanded the vision to include neighboring countries in addition to Zambia.
AMMC recognizes that music, dance, and the visual arts are social activities and crucial components of Christian training and outreach. AMMC's goal is to strengthen the church through discipleship, teaching Biblical principles of worship, and mentoring young leaders. An equally important goal is to actively engage their neighbors through outreach concerts as the Zambian National Christian Choir and Orchestra (ZNCCO), orphanage service, prison ministries, and other community events.
AMMC is also the home of the Chipembi Farm Project, a sustainability venture where the ministry can provide itself and members of the community life-sustaining resources through farming and clean water projects.
